Multi award winning Australian blues artist, Dom Turner is best known as guitarist, lead vocalist, and founding member of the iconic Australian blues group, Backsliders as well as for other international collaborations including The Turner Brown Band and Phil Wiggins & Dom Turner.
Dom has toured the Australian festival circuit since the 1980s and regularly appears at most major, blues‑related music festivals. He is a regular visitor to the home of the blues, the USA performing at festivals including Augusta Blues Week in West Virginia, and the RL Boyce Picnic as well as the Otha Turner Goat Picnic in Mississippi.
Dom’s new band, The Rural Blues Project draws its repertoire from early 20th century blues and folk recordings of artists such as Lead Belly, Fred McDowell, Blind Willie McTell, Son House and Robert Johnson, reworking and hybridising each song for the 21st century.
Joining Dom is the shuffle king himself, legendary drummer Rosscoe Clarke (Foreday Riders, Cyril B Bunter) and fiddle and accordion master Roy Payne.
